He pioneered the initial stages of grid scale energy storage including developing the incentive program for battery energy storage in California in 2008. This proved pivotal to extensive adoption of grid storage coupled with renewable energy generation.
He has raised over $100 million in institutional and private capital for multiple startup companies and has served on the boards of both private and public corporations.
Tim was born and educated in South Africa where he obtained a Master of Science in Engineering as well as several business qualifications. He has been a registered Professional and Chartered Engineer in the UK for over 30 years and holds sixty-five patents extending from energy storage systems to smart grid and wind farm technology. He authored the “Blue Book” a guide to Power Quality in South Africa and has an extensive publication list. He is an advisor to several technology startups.
